Job Overview:
As the Environmental Health and Safety Officer you will play a pivotal role in creating a safe
and environmentally sustainable workplace. This position offers a unique opportunity to
contribute to the success of a major infrastructure initiative while maintaining a focus on health,
safety, and environmental practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership:
Provide strong leadership to ensure a safety-first culture among project team members.
Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs specific to Roads and
Bridges construction.
Environmental Compliance:
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
Implement measures to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainability.
Risk Assessment:
Conduct comprehensive COSH (Construction Occupational Safety and Health) risk
assessments.
Develop and implement control measures to mitigate identified risks.
HIRAC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Control):
Conduct HIRAC assessments for project activities.
Recommend and implement control measures to eliminate or minimize identified hazards.
PCO (Pollution Control Officer):
Act as the PCO for the project, ensuring compliance with pollution control regulations.
Implement measures to prevent and control pollution on-site.
Qualifications:
ï‚· COSH Certification is mandatory.
ï‚· HIRAC Certification is required.
ï‚· PCO Certification is a plus.
ï‚· Accredited Safety Practitioner
 Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field.
ï‚· Proven experience as an Environmental Health and Safety Officer in construction
projects, preferably Roads and Bridges.
ï‚· In-depth knowledge of safety and environmental regulations, risk assessment, and
control measures.
