Job Description :
1. Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies in compliance with Philippine regulations and international standards for construction projects.
2. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of construction sites, equipment, and processes to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance issues.
3. Provide safety training and orientation to all personnel, including new hires, subcontractors, and visitors, on safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and hazard recognition.
4. Enforce safety rules and regulations on-site and take corrective action to address violations or unsafe practices, including issuing warnings, stop-work orders, and disciplinary measures as necessary.
5. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and contributing factors, and develop recommendations for corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
6. Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and safety-related documentation, and prepare reports for management, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders as required.
7. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to integrate safety considerations into project planning, design, and execution, including hazard analysis, risk assessments, and safety plans.
8. Monitor the use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety devices, ensuring availability, proper fit, and compliance with standards.
9. Conduct emergency drills, mock exercises, and evacuation procedures to test the effectiveness of emergency response plans and enhance preparedness for emergencies.
10. Stay informed about new developments in safety regulations, technologies, and best practices in the construction industry, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
11. Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability among all employees, fostering a positive safety culture through communication, engagement, and recognition programs.
12. Participate in safety committees, task forces, and industry forums to share knowledge, exchange best practices, and collaborate on safety initiatives.
Requirements:
- . Professional certification as a Safety Officer III from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Philippines.
- Proven experience (minimum 5 years) as a Safety Officer in construction projects, preferably with experience in large-scale infrastructure projects.
- In-depth knowledge of Philippine occupational safety and health regulations (OSH) and construction safety standards, including DOLE Administrative Order No. 198-18.
- Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures applicable to construction activities and processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and influence behavior change.
- Proficiency in conducting safety inspections, incident investigations, and safety training sessions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for preparing reports, presentations, and safety documentation.
